Mass Storage (/pnfs) /pnfs has sometime issues

Hello,

For the last few days, /pnfs is having performance issues, while some storage nodes can't serve files. We have not identified the cause yet.

Mainly cd/ls becomes slow, and only a restart of the service makes it work fast again. Also, a couple of storage nodes have a hard time serving files (hence why some of your files have issues), this usually solves itself after a while.

Scheduled Downtime Wednesday 16/08 to Friday 18/08

Hello,

Our yearly downtime is scheduled this year from Wednesday 16/08 to Friday 18/08. While we plan 3 days of downtime, we hope to finish everything in a shorter time.

On Wednesday 16/08 midnight, we will stop all jobs, and cut access to all of T2B cluster facilities (mX, batch system, /pnfs, /user). For your information, the main tasks we will perform is to upgrade /pnfs to its latest version, and migrate /user to a new storage system.

All websites should not be affected, besides maybe very short (5-15min) reboots after OS updates.

We will inform you when the downtime will finish.

  • Please note that the /user storage migration implies that /storage_mnt/storage/user/ has migrated to /ada_mnt/ada/user/.

    Downtime is officially finished.

    Here are the main changes:

    • update of all machines
    • /pnfs dCache version upgrade
    • /user migration to new storage solution
